The Duke of Edinburgh International Award is a globally recognised programme that offers students the opportunity to develop outside of their curriculum learning. As part of the award, students must go on an adventurous journey as well as undertaking sustained engagement in three areas: Skill, Physical Activity and Service (volunteering) for one hour per week over a period between 3-12 months depending on the award level.

Whether you offer Bronze, Silver, or the Gold award, the WeMAD projects can be used as part of the service requirement for students. Students are able to use the indigenous communities curriculum for PSHE, GC, or service lessons as the starting point for the ongoing voluntary commitment.

Similarly, the IBDP CAS programme can be used within the IA framework, and so too can our student self-directed learning programme. Students are able to work through the research of the self directed study scheme for indigenous communities and then choose a manner in which they can use their time in service of the communities - through direct, indirect, advocacy or Research. The self directed units can be logged as approximately a third of their service log time as this will be used as part of their needed skills to complete the action part of the service.
