PSHE and Global Citizenship
The Indigenous Communities curriculum easily assimilate within the teaching of timetabled lessons such as PSHE, Global Citizenship and Community Service. It builds on students understanding of Living in the Wider World giving them greater context to issues and problems faced by traditional communities. As a curriculum, it explores issues related to the UN SDGs and encompasses the UNESCO Global Citizenship core concepts:
Cognition:
Students gain knowledge and critical thinking skills about global issues through national and local contexts
Socio - Emotional
Students develop empathy and a sense of humanity based on their understanding of indigenous communities; respecting the diversity and differences between different people and having a sense of responsibility to one another.Â
Behavioural:
Students act on their knowledge in supportive, positive and peaceful ways to foster change for these communities
